Chocolate Custard recipe
Chocolate custard is a great accompaniment to all dishes, but especially chocolate sponge puddings. It's also really easy to make, too - it has just five ingredients. This recipe calls for dark chocolate, although you could use the flavoured chocolate of your choice - try orange chocolate or salted chocolate.
Ingredients:
- 250ml milk
- 3 large egg yolks
- 100g dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp. caster sugar
- 1 tsp. corn flour
Directions:
Grate the chocolate or finely chop it. You could also pop it into a food processor. Heat the milk in a saucepan until just about to boil, then remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate. Keep stirring until the chocolate has all melted. You may need to put it back on the heat if there are a few stubborn bits that won't melt.
Beat the eggs with the sugar for a couple of minutes.
In a bowl, mix together a little of the chocolate milk with the corn flour. Stir until smooth, then add this to the eggs and sugar. Stir well until smooth.
Mix the eggs into the remaining chocolate milk and stir until combined and thickened. Don't let the custard boil.
