Orange Custard recipe
This would be a lovely custard to serve up at Christmastime, as the citrus flavours are wonderfully reminiscent of the wintertime. If you don't want to use orange, use lemon instead.
Ingredients:
- 650ml milk
- 200ml double cream
- 200g caster sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 3 tbsp. corn flour
- Juice and zest of two oranges
Directions:
Put the cream and milk into a saucepan and bring to just under the boil. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks, corn flour, orange juice and zest and sugar until as smooth as possible.
Gradually pour all of the milk mixture onto the eggs, stirring all the while until smooth.
Pour the mixture back into a clean pan, and cook until thickened to your liking.
